The 5th Annual “Cougars for a Cause” 5K Run/Walk was held on Saturday May 9, 2015. The race through the streets of Dover was organized by staff and students at Campus Community School to benefit Ben Knapp’s medical fund.
Ben Knapp was a student at Campus Community School. In October of 2011, while he was a junior at Dover High School, Ben went into cardiac arrest and was left with a life altering brain injury that took his vision, his ability to talk and greatly limited his mobility and muscle control. Ben has traveled to A.I DuPont Children’s Hospital for the last three years to receive intensive daily therapies to regain basic life functions. Ben has continued his academic studies at Dover High School. In spite of his physical limitations, Ben will receive his diploma in June 2015.
Ben's uplifting spirit, unyielding determination and selfless caring for others is an inspiration to everyone around him.
Ben's sister Ellie also attended Campus Community School through 8th grade and his sister Emma is currently enrolled at CCS in the 5th grade. Ben’s parents are Chip and Cindy Knapp.
The Cougars for a Cause 5K was part of the Spring Carnival weekend at Campus Community School, a tuition free, public K-8 charter school located at 350 Pear St., in Dover, Delaware.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this worthy event. Results for the race can be found at trisportsevents.com

New additions this year to the Campus Community School Spring Carnival include a bicycle rodeo and world champion cup stacker demonstration.
The Y-Bicycle Association is an organization that promotes cycling through demonstrations, giving scholarships, and community programs across the nation. They will host a bike rodeo at the CCS Spring Carnival this year.
During their day-long program, the Y-Bicycle Association will show off new bikes and tricks, offer a bike safety course, allow spectators to bike through an obstacle course, and provide information on the health benefits that come with cycling.
After a visit to the bicycle rodeo, head over to Tyler Farmer’s booth, where he will demonstrate his cup stacking talent. Tyler is one of Delaware’s best cup-stackers and has been to the world competition. During the Spring Carnival, he will be demonstrating his skills.
Join us for the Campus Community School Spring Carnival at 350 Pear Street, Dover, Delaware, Saturday, May 9, from 10 am to 2 pm.
