Visit the Cougar Paws Community Garden to celebrate Mother's Day

Cougar Paws Community Garden has expanded every year and worked by students in every grade level One of the many activities at the Campus Community School Spring Carnival is the opportunity for you and your children to construct a biodegradable pot and plant a flower or veggie for Mom in celebration of Mother's Day.

The caretaker of the Cougar Paws Community Garden is Campus Community School Facility Manager Shawn Beecher. Established in 2011 by the CCHS garden club, the garden has expanded every year and is now worked by students in every grade level along with parent volunteers.

Some of our harvest is donated to Campus families and also finds its way into the surrounding community through our families.  A portion of the summer harvest is picked and served along with lunch by our students in the STEAM program who help maintain the garden during the summer months.

This season we are planting string beans, onions, summer squash, pattypan squash, spaghetti squash, sugar snap peas, sunflowers, tomatoes, peppers, various herbs, watermelon, strawberries and raspberries.

Our Brahma hens are now 1 year old and have started laying.  We hatch chicks in 1st grade every year and the students get to see the birds life cycle, egg to egg.  Fresh, free range "Cougar Eggs" are available through the office for a small donation that helps support these programs.

Spring Carnival provides perfect opportunity for a day of family fun

Spring Carnival provides perfect opportunity for a day of family funLooking to turn a boring Saturday into a day of family fun?  Check out the Campus Community School Spring Carnival on May 9, 2015 in Dover.

Dozens of fun festivities will be offered, including games, vendors, music, animals, and food.  Popular booths in the past have included the ping-pong ball toss, duck pond game, face painting stand, and dunk tank attraction.  New festivities include pony rides, a bicycle rodeo, a mini-golf course, and additional inflatables.

Don’t forget about Mother’s Day on Sunday. Plant a flower in the Campus Community School Garden and give Mom a gift that lasts.

The event is a major fundraiser for a local school and 100% of the proceeds from Carnival will go toward educational programs for Campus Community School students.

Plan to spend the day at Campus Community School, 350 Pear Street, Dover, Delaware, Saturday, May 9, from 10 am to 2 pm.
